Here's the Citron I raised for my nephew. He's going to make preserves out of it next month. Its good on hot bicuits. I had lots of vines and blossoms, but only one fruit was produced.

There is a heap of difference between a citron and a watermellon. They only look much alike on the outside. A citron does not get ripe like a watermellon, and is not good to eat raw, but does make good preserves, as I remember from about 60 years ago. Of course a hungry boy would eat most anything sweet after walking home after a day at a one room school. Wasn't any lunch rooms in those days, instead you took a dinner bucket.

Citron must be a local name for them,I googled Citron and came up with a lemon like fruit (citronella maybe?) from asia.Bill M.

There's a lot of people that never heard of Citrons. My late mom would pickle the watermelon rinds. One big citron will make a lot of preserves. Hal
