Getting bearing off a shaft

Ok guys, need help on this one. I removed the locking collar. The shaft is clean and bright. I can't get the bearing loose. I'd heat it but it's one of those wonderful "permanently" greased bearings and I hope to use it again. There is really no way to get behind it either. Any tricks for getting it off? I have Kroil on the shaft waiting until tomorrow. Thanks for any advice.

Are you using a bearing splitter? You did not mention one. It is usealy the only way to get behind them.

Didn't say what it's on; usually they can be driven.......slightly....further on, which allows the use of sandpaper, file, etc. To each his own, but I would never re-use one, unless maybe it's right on the end of a shaft and it'll just pop off............this after running Gleaner combines for about 50 years.

If you can't pull it off, drive the shaft into it.... but I think generally, as you approach the hour of need, you'll cross that bridge where you deduct that the torch is your best option.
I don't even bother screwing with those inserts anymore. If it doesn't give in about 2 minutes it gets burnt. If it's on there that long that it's stuck to the shaft then it's on there long enough that I'm not doing all that work to change a bearing next week anyway.

shoups sells a puller for those bearings it attaches to the ring on the bearing where the lock collar attaches. i dont have a catalog handy but give em a call shoup parts .com

If it is stuck that tight , it will be damaged no matter what you do to get it off. Go on and bite the bullet and buy a new bearing. then use a "BF Hammer" or a torch

use an air hammer on the end of the shaft and use a pry bar or heel bar to pry the bearing off. this will usually get them off unless it is completely rusted in then use a cut off wheel to split it

found it, mighty moe bearing puller, part number fbp500 . has jaw sets to pull 7/8, 15/16, 1, 1-1/16, 1-1/8, 1-3/16, 1-1/4 light. 149.95 for the puller and jaw sets. also have a 7 inch extension available, jaw set for 1-1/4 heavy, 25mm and 30 mm. will pull from the cam lock lip or inner ball bearing race groove.

I have had my share of "greaseless" bearings go dry. If this has any age on it and is high speed I'd replace it since you are working on that shaft. Bearings are relatively cheap, compared to a bearing holder, shaft, ect that could be damaged if it went dry and un noticed for a day.

Just torch it and be done with it. Time is worth something too and that bearing unless you just replaced it is probably dry.
