Making felt seals- what material.

I need to make some wheel seals for my E-3. Reading some prior posts alot of you make your own seals with felt material. What grade felt would be best? F7 is by far the cheapest, but would it hold up? I worry about putting too abrasive a material in there, would it wear the spindle?
