We need to get a new gas grill and are looking for some suggestions. Would like to get a good quality grill that will last a long time. We have had 2 Sunbeams that were OK but now it is time to get something better. We use a grill most of the year. Thanks for the help.

I still have an apartment, but when I am going to get a Weber. My parents wore one out after 10yrs and are now on their second. My uncle also has one. I would recommend getting the models (most models have the option) with stainless steel grates and 'flavorizer bars'

Webers are nice. and seem to last. I have had very good luck with Charbroil brand. I recommend getting a reasonable grill model with few bells and whistles. Purchasing extras just reduces reliability. Simple and tidy makes storage and moving it around much easier. And it is far less expensive. JimN

This may sound nuts but I bought an electric grill, yes it heats well, up to 500f. And it was $175. It will cook (grill) 8 large hamburger patties at one time. Now if you have a large amount of people over then you would need a larger one. But I use this thing about 4-6 times per year and hasnt failed me yet. I couldnt see spending $600 or more on a gas grill that is used a few times per year and having to get propane tanks filled and the hazards of it. My grill runs off of 110VAC.

I see alot of Weber grills around here, they seem fairley well made. I use a old 1970s grill made by Arkla, made in USA and its still going. My father has one of those electric grills, maybe like Gun was talking about, works good, I think his is a George Forman one. I also see alot of China made ones, like Kenmore for sale at Sears. They may or may not have lead grates in them :( lol. j

Just bought a Weber Q 300 and it is just great. Ordered it on line through Walmart and saved some money. It is a full size grill but on the compact side and workes just great. Very high quality with cast iron grates and stainless burners.

I wouldn't have a gas grill...doesn't have the taste of charcoal, IMHO.

There used to be 'gas assisted' grills. The gas lights the charcoal and then you would turn that off.
