Possible Gas Tank Leak

I just coated the gas tank on my 1940 Silver King using the POR15 kit. It did a great job. I found a small crack in the brass hub when I ran a 3/8" pipe tap thru it to clean the threads.Can I get away with using Permatex #1 ( the hardening kind ) or should I solder it and retap it or put JB weld on the male thread of the fuel bowl and just screw it in ? The fuel bowl now screws in right up to the shoulder and is still loose.

Well, what"s the machine worth to you? Clean it, repair it properly. If it leaks, and takes the machine, you"ll be kicking yourself all over the farm. I suggest soldering a new fitting on. If you"re not equipped to do it properly, check with a competent radiator shop. Make sure tank is empty and free of fumes before working on it with heat.
