how many tractors do you have?

heck this is a tractor forum so why not talk about tractors? eh? i know there are some people with some impresive collections on here and as much as we like to hear about them its also alot of fun to hear from guys like allan who uses his tractors.

Older Restored 1977 IH 1086 with 4 post canopy
Bought new 2001 Kubota B7500 w/ loader
Just sitting John Deere 45 combine

I've been collecting farm-tractors as well as smaller two-wheel tractors for 40 years. Nothing impressive and nothing "restored." For myself, I like old iron that I can use, and also that has some original paint and/or lettering on it. So, I tend to get them all in good running shape, but don't tend to paint anything.

If I count all the stuff, I've got over 100 tractors.

My "users" include:

Deere 420 crawler, Deere 1010 crawler, Deere 350 crawler, Deere 440 skidder, Deere 1020 tractor, Deere 300 tractor, Deere 300B backhoe/loader.

Allis Chalmers H3, HD4, and HD6 crawlers.

Oliver-Cletrac HG, OC3, and OC4 crawlers.

Case VAC (three of them), VAC-14s (two of them), 580CK backhoe/loader, 511B tractor, DCs (three of them).

IH - B-275s (three), B-414s (two), and a 3414 backhoe/loader.

Pettibone-Multihoe large backhoe-loader with Detroit Diesel 3-53 engine and Allison trans.

Ford - 4000 industrial backhoe/loader with 172 gas engine and Sherman over-and-under aux. trans. Also a Ford 2N and a 641.

Shaw R-12 small farm tractor with a Wisconsin TE engine.

As to the smaller stuff? Too many to list. My biggest two-wheeler is a steel-wheeled Sears Handiman sold in 1936. It weighs close to 1000 lbs. Next biggest are my Standard Twins (I have five) and my steel-wheeled Viking Twin.

At times to many of them. I do try to use all of the ones I have but at times that is hard to do since I have 20 plus I think. I just got my 1935 JD-B started today after it was giving me problems starting
Hobby farm

oooh the 4000 is a sweet tractor. I dont believe one word when people say the 4000 is a "poor mans 4020". and the 1086 is a great tractor too! Im glad im not the only one who likes a couple red and green tractors. although the 66 and 86 series are the only IH ones i like.

wow mitch im really jealous. have you posted some pics of all your bigger tractors before? like 3020 and up? i think i might have seen a pic. you have quite a collection. Im envious!

Here are pics of them. I prefer the green ones, but I kind of had to take the red ones since they were family owned. Although, I enjoy them all.

oooh wow those are both real nice! any plans on reatoring the 4000? the 20 series (including the 4000) are probably the nicest looking tractor ever made according to a lot of people. For me its a tie between the 20 series and the 55 series olivers.

I have been buying little odds and ends for 2 years now. When I get all the parts, I will tear it apart and repaint it. This one has sycro tranny, single remotes, and 5010 hours on it. My wife's uncle bought it new, then sold it to the wife's father. Before he died, we bought it from him. I have the original documentation for it also. It is really a sweet tractor. Besides rebuilding the remotes, I have not done anything mechanically to it in the 6 years I have owned it. It still has the old style injection pump. Mechanically, it is as good as a new one.

Many are indoors. I've got four large dairy barns with two drive-in floors, two large pole barns, etc. But, I've also got many outdoors. Some in the fields and some under tarps near my house.

Looks like we need some different colors on here. We have around 65 at this time. Mostly Case with about 15 ACs. Some restored and some still waiting to be restored. Here are a couple of VACs that we pull and a few that we carried to a show nearby.

Bought "Sam" our 51MT after the photo was taken.

wow. those are nice. the paint on the 4020 is great! is it original? and the 4320 looks like a beast. the fwa probably makes it pretty rare.

gordey what olivers do you collect? got any of the 55 series? or the fiat models? or a 2255 or a oliver green white american? sorry but im intrigued!

Just fleetline, super and three digit. favorite are the super 99's 950's etc. wouldn't mind a cheap 2255 or some fwa, just have to be patient.

These are the ones I have now, but have had several others over the years. First two from the left are consecutive 41Ms, then my 40 M working tractor,My 39F14, my 45 Inter. I4, my 49 Cub, and my other junk.

And now my sentimental tractors that were my dads 1953 vac14 case and a 1956 Cockshutt 35. It is fair to point out that the Ford and the caseIH are not old, but they do have 6000 plus hours. All of these tractors run and the working staff earn their keep on our dairy farm.

We've got 5, currently 3 run but hopefully our 1855 will be done in a week or 2.

Dad putting up corn before I got the 1600 back together and on the blower where it belongs. 285 is on the blower and 165 on the wagon.

3. 1940 John Deere A, 1940 Farmall A, 1967 IH 806 Wheatland. Use the Deere as a skidder for selling firewood on the side, use the farmall for a hay rake, and occasional sickle mower, use the 806 to run a 336 deere hay baler. Rented 26 acres of hay ground this year.

I think we've had it for about 17-18 years now, was repainted before we bought it. It originally had a black loader on it, don't know what brand it was but it wasn't a very good one. It had to be welded up and fixed several times before we just gave up on it and removed it.

That is when we bought the 1755, because it had a loader mounted on it. That one turned into a bit of a lemon, as we had it in the shop many times for the few years we used it. After the engine gave up, we had the loader frame removed from the 17 and made to fit the 165. It was too small for the 1755 anyway, and it's a good fit on the 165. Just mounted kinda low so it doesn't lift as high as we'd like at times.

If we would get the 1755 going again, and to a point where it's dependable, we'd probably get rid of the 165 as it's in really rough shape mechanically. The Multi-power is shot, the clutch could stand to be replaced, the engine needs an overhaul, the front axel needs to be removed and fixed up,the brakes are functional but weak, and the 3 pt. cylinder needs to be fixed up.

Four & they're all IH. A '49 H, '49 W6, '47 F'Cub & a '55 400. The H was inherited from my grandpa, the W6 I bought off of ebay & is in the process of being torn down to rebuild, the F'Cub is actually my Ma's (I just maintain & operate it, however that works). I call it the F'Cub because it is the first to break down, spring a leak, etc. The 400, I purchased this spring. It has it's share of gremlins, but they're getting worked out one by one. I've owned two Fords in the past. A 9N & an 8N. The 9N was the first tractor I bought & fixed up with my own cash at age fourteen. Got it running & traded it in on the 8N. I had the 8N for about seven years & traded it in on a new Cub Cadet 3225 in '01. There's an original Cub Cadet floating around here, too. It's a '61. Somewhere there is a neat picture, I should find, of the two Cadets together. It was as close as I could get to reproducing the picture in the 40th anniversary brochure. Speaking of, I've been contemplating trading in the 3225 for the 40th anniversary Cadet. There's a very nice low hour one at the local dealership. Think that about covers it. - Mike
