Bought Tractor #7 today...

Hi all, I just got my 7th tractor today, it is a 1947 McCormick W-4. Needs tires and rear rims, the engine turns over, its not stuck, so it should not take much to get it running.

My Tractors:

1943 Farmall H, 1941 Farmall M, 1949 Farmall M, 1938 Farmall F-20, 1947 McCormick W-4 1949 John Deere A, 1941 John Deere B

We all start out with one, then one tractor leads to another.

Then you run out of tractor storage and don't want to spend the money because you want to buy another tractor!

Looks like it will make you a good tractor; keep us up to date on your progress.

I bought a W-4 in about 1975, also for $800. It was a good tractor for manure spreading, disking, raking, other tag-a-long work. If you ever use it for PTO work, be VERY careful- That seat hanging back there means the PTO front universal is right between your legs if you take them off the upper step (like when you get off the tractor). I had to use it for a PTO baler once in a pinch- I wrapped both pant legs with duct tape, was nervous the whole time.

Nice find. Mine is long gone.

Only 7? I have W-4 also. Good rear rims were tough to find, it had rusted out 24"s (split rim) so had to go to 26"s.

Looks like a good project. Just curious, this one being #7, whats the wife have to say about that? I keep getting reminded about my #3 that followed me home 9 months ago...
