Feeling sorry for myself

Well a rain hit early this morning and I got some hay ruined and was feeling sorry for my bad luck. I called a friend about 150miles north of me and found out a Hail storm had wiped him out. All his crops, beat up his big tractor and trucks, broke windows in the farm house and even killed fish in the pond. He is insured but we all know how well that works. I realized no matter how bad we think we have it you don't have to look far to find someone worse off. I don't feel sorry for myself now, I feel ashamed.

What is there to feel ashamed about you cut hay and took a chance we all do that. My brother has 20 acres down with rain only miles away so far none but who knows. If we get by today there is a chance he might get it without rain.

Hey now it is just washed hay, it should dry out again. Will be better than snowballs to hungry cows.

BTDT. Venting is better than kicking the wall, putting a hole in the wall and breaking your toe.

We've all had down times and being able to share it, helps. That's what friends are for. Then we take a deep breath and go make the best of it.

Nancy,
Steel toed boots take the broken toe out of the equation! LOL

Baler problems and wet weather cost me about 200 bales this summer. Still got to go out gather them out of the field, and throw "em in the swamp. Anyone want some free hay for mulch?

Still having problems with baler. Undergrowth is making it impossible to cut the last few acres of hay. Cut the last wagonload with a flail chopper - opened up in the back. Little better than using a brush hog. Loose about half, and bales are light spongy... I do have enough in the garn, I may flail it and let it lay....

Back on late july we cut down 40 acres of the nicest alf alfa you ever saw.Weather man on the day we cut it forecasted 4 days of beautifull sunshine and hot temperatures.Well the morning after we cut it,no no,now we're getting 5 days of showers.A week and 100 mls of rain later we got our sun.Made some sorry looking hay,but the poor girls are eating it anyways.Incase anyone was wondering,100 mls is about 4 inches. But I too had the peeved off me's,and yes there are many people worse off, they are usually the ones not complaining too,and for that I am also ashamed.pd

A buddy discovered that his boat was stolen last night. Big Offshore type, Cost way over 100K, It sure ruined his day... Makes my little problems seem small..

We raised peanuts when I was a kid . Thrashed them in September. Back then it always started raining in September in Texas (wish it would now). Peanut hay always turned black. My dad always said "sure wish I could see some green peanut hay some day." Finally we got some in before it got wet. Cows just looked at it and walked off.
