Plough for my Massey 1155

Can anyone suggest a big cheap plough for my V8 Massey, I would guess it would manage a 5 or 6 bottom. Was thinking about a low cost model that farmers no longer use. I will only use it for display and the occassional working event. It would be good to show those Ford County guys around where I live that big ploughs dont always need for wheel assist. Any ideas welcome.

Here in the US, about any of the domestics would be under a thousand dollars for a non-auto reset plow. Oliver 565, John Deere F145H, or IH 550 falls into that category and came in 5 or 6 bottom configurations.
Don't know about your rock situation, but the models mentioned, if tripped, would require stopping and backing up to reset the tripped bottom. Spring auto reset (on the go) would jump you to the 2000 to 3000 dollar range.
I have no idea as to the availability of any of these in the UK. I'm thinking its very expensive (relative to purchase price) to get one sent over. The Oliver was the most preferred here but I think any of the mentioned would be fine for the limited use it will receive.

I used to plow with a model 880 six bottom behind a 1100.
Your 1155 would play with that.
Nice looking plow, in my opinion.

An 88 would look good too. If I remember right 880 was an on land hitch and the 88 was a standard hitch that you run in the furrow.

Depends on the soil he's on. Our neighbor had a 1155 Massey V-8 with a 6 bottom plow behind it and it couldn't pull it for sh@t. He had to hook another Allis Chalmers or their JD 3010 tractor on the front of it pulling both of them together to be able to handle it. I watched them do it many times. Better to stick with a 5 bottom and make one more round at the end of the day to make up for the difference. If he only has some sand to plow it will be ok with a 6 bottom.

Funny you should say that. I was watching some Countys and Roadless tractors working at The Epworth Festival of the Plough last year and I thought to myself "Now if I had that 1100 here that we used to have, I could show them a thing or two!"
