Need quick help- Farmall H Question

Hi all,
I'm trying to get my H put back together for Rollag. I'm getting it back together, I picked up a overhaul gasket set and it included the seal for the timing cover. Here is my problem. I do not have any special tools to remove seals, I flipped the cover and used a socket extension and hammer to pound out the old oil seal. The seal seems to be inside some kind of metal retainer, how do I replace this? I'm having trouble, so if someone can give me some quick help, I'd appreciate it.

Unless I'm missing something, all that type seals are in metal containers. The rear seal isn't.

Did you check the size of the new seal. Sounds like you didn't get all the old seal out.

All of the old seal has to come out, Andy. Use a chisel & vise grips to work the old seal case out. New seals do not have the extra outer case.
Compare the new seal diameter with the opening in the timing cover.
