brainstorming again.... Air filters

I'm on a role........ Has anyone taken an oil bath air filter and rigged a paper or something like K&N inside to get rid of the mess and still look original?

If someone does that, I'd like to hear how it worked. I'm thinking about doing the same thing on my Fergie. I have a couple K&N motorcycle filters off a motorcycle that will clamp right onto my carb.

I wonder it you could put a block off plate with a couple of fittings welded on for the in and out passage. Then run a remote type oil filter adapter like for a 350 chev. Ya know with hoses running between your block off plate and the adapter. Just a thought.

We use this type of recycled filtering device on the outside of the airstack.

The reports I've read about K&N is that they are less restrictive but the don't filter well. I would not use them on any equipment, let alone a tractor that works in dusty conditions. If your tractor is a parade queen it might not be a bad thing to do.
 
A while back I added this unit to my Case DC. It is a Soldberg and has a paper element inside. Not original but filters better and not bad looking either
