Filbert nut trees

Yesterday, I had 2 Filbert trees dropped off from a friend. They're 8' tall and I'm going to plant them today but was wondering if they should be planted as an understory tree like the wild Hazelnut trees I've found that are growing along the edge of the woods?

plant out in the open in full sun if ya want a good crop. planting in shady places will encourage insects, molds, poor growth, and even poorer or no crop at all.
