Why didnt somebody warn me?

My farmall A startd making a thumping noise on the right side wheel. Drove down rgw driveway and watched the tire move out about two inches at one spot. Wow? Wheel must be loose. Get under the tractor and find the rim bolts loose si I tightend them up and drove away. The wheel still wollowed at one spot so I looked closely at the rime and found one of the bolts loose, What? looked closer at the rim and realizes one of the clamps is moving around. Ordera a new rim, went and got new grade 8 bolts abd took the wheel to the truck stop to get it changed over. Oh yeah, thestem area was almost rusted away. Got it all back this aft. and started to bolt it back on when I realized the clamps on the rim are completely different and need 1" longer bolt. I can never beat the system. Back to town for more bolts and another 10 bucks. Henry

Warn you not to fool with old tractors?
Why would anyone here do that?

All that is part of the fun.

Uh, Henry. If ya get one of them four lug 24" rims they make nowadays, they have loops instead of those cast brackets so the bolt head won't nest down into it. If you're goin' to town anyway, ya might wanna grab some nuts and bolts so you can put 'em on. 5/8" NC x about 4", maybe 4-1/2 oughta do it.

Glad to be of help.
