Gasoline proof thread sealant?

I have some carburator threads which have been damaged. I need some kind of gasoline proof sealant to use on some of the threads to prevent gasoline leaks on the outside of the carburator. Otherwise I won't be able to salvage this carburator. Thanks.

We use some stuff called Leak Lock on LP fittings where I work. It is blue and in a little squeeze tube. Not sure if it would be 100% gasoline proof, though.

There is a sealant caller Seal All sold in most auto stores and Ace Hardware that is oil and gas resistant that I have used with good luck. I also have used red gasket silicone for carbs etc. Henry

There's some kind of gasket sealer that they use on airplane carbs, but I can't think of the name of it right now. You might try googling "aviation carb sealer" or something like that.

RTV. That's the stuff that smells of citric acid. Home Depot calls it kitchen/bath sealer-the unpaintable stuff. It is impervious to also most eveything when dry.

Leak-lock instantly popped into my mind after reading the post. It is a pipe dope for petrolium products. Yes, a little blue squeeze tube.

Pro-Seal is a two-part polysulfide sealant used on aircraft fuel tanks. Aircraft Spruce carries it, but not in small quantities. You might try one of the polysulfide (NOT polyurethane) sealants sold at marine hardware stores.

Try some Gasoila Softset thread sealant. I've used teflon tape too. Hal

Loctite gasket eliminator 515 sealant Part # 51531 and can B found in most automotive parts stores.

Read the directions,,, for gas, oil, natural gas , propane and butane up to 300 psi.

Works good and gas will not fudge with it. Its one of the best sealants I have found,,, a tube will last most folks a life time. If it will not seal it nuttin will BTDT.

Plain old loctite tread locker will seal gas/oil fittings also,,, fishing line (original thread locker) wrapped around the threads will to

Had a leak into my fuel bowl from the line in my 8N, my neighbor, an ex-Army mechanic from Korea era give me the solution - take some sewing thread and wrap it around the threads, and put on some toothpaste as you wrap, he preferred Crest. Stopped the leak. He told me it was taught to him by a young Korean boy while he was trying to fix a leak in the line of a military vehicle.

Been four years and still no leak.

Hello AAA,
In a pinch I use unwaxed dental floss.
Much better then sewing threads, which are better then nothing.
Keep some of that dental floss in my traveling tool box.
Guido.

There is a type of Teflon tape that works with gas joints, it is yellow in color - found some at Home Depot a few years ago.
