How long do you think motor oil will last in a can. Yes I said CAN no plastic jug.

Do not know how old this can of oil is but I think it might have a few years on it. Found this today in my shed. Fell behind some cabinets and no telling how long it has been back there.

Do not know if it still good enough to be used in a motor but might just save it for the squirt can to be safe.

Just save it for posterity, might even be worth a few bucks soon, as there are no more cans.......

I would say it's good. I would say and unopened can of oil like this just might be worth money. I would not open it. Put it on Ebay.

How could it go bad if it is unopened? I found cans like that in my granfathers basement when we cleaned the house out after he died, they were Valvoline, and Sears "Spectrem" or something like that. I used them in my Dakota and it was fine. Hardest part was finding a way to open them. Years ago we had a spout that you broke the metal top open with, and then poured out the oil. But its long gone now..

Ya, it would be neat if they were worth money for a collector. I have a can of Bardahl VBA 2 stroke motor oil "for oil injection engines" from the 60s or 70s unopened. 16floz. pop top can! Suggested retail price 95 cents, made in Norwood Mass. And it also contains the world famous Bardahl "polar organic" ingerdients to give you
.Faster starts
.More power
.Greater economy
.Less carbon build-up
.less plug fouling and wiskering
.Increased engine life
.Corrosion protection
Or so the can says......j

And, I have a can of motor oil in a card-board can! I just let it set on the shelf-ain't leaking, and it will probably last a while yet!
Can't remember the name on the can.

They are worth a lot more if never opened. collectors you know!

If oxygen hasn't gotten to it, it will still be good. It was in the ground a few years.

I have found can like that and also found that oil has separated a nd after shacking it up good was just fine but being that brand and being wax based I would NEVER use it

Should be good for about 150 million more years give or take a few, or until the can rusts out and it all leaks out.

It will leak & before long too. I have several of them around the garage & most leak. The rest will; cardbord was never meant for long-term storage.
