with friends like that............

Try to keep this short. Agreed to take all hay (post the other day) from my buddy/neighbor. Just paid the roller price for the rained on stuff. Can't/won't use it myself so offered it to another neighbor (21 rolls) for 6 good ones. He couldn't use it but said that a farmer lost everything in a fire last week a few miles away and I should go to another neighbor who is a friend of the guy to get his number. Went there and the guy told me that his buddy didn't need any feed but he'd buy it from me. I made a rule last year that I wouldn't deal with this guy so decided to just put an ad in the paper. Ran into the 1st guy on the way home and told him what was said. He came by the house a little later with a phone number. I called the guy and he was glad to hearfrom me. Said I should tell his buddy what I have and make the deal with him. Told him what his buddy said and that I'd rather deal with him directly. He asked what I wanted and, figuring he was in a pinch, asked him what he wanted to pay. Said his buddy was charging him 28 bucks a roll for everything he could find for him and he'd pay me the same.
Couldn't resist, I'd just paid 150 bucks for the 21 rolls (7+/- a little ea). His buddy was going to pay me the same 7 bucks and charge him 28.

Couldn't resist the opportunity and told him that was too much, I'd give it to him for what his buddy was going to pay and he could send a few steaks now and then. Gave up some bucks but shedding a little light on a crook was priceless.........

Boy, they are out there !! Sold a car to a guy once, told me his friend would be along shortly and play along. When his "friend" showed up, he did all the talking. Convinced his friend to buy the car for twice what I was asking. I needed the money badly, so I got the $500 I needed and his buddy got the shaft. City guys. I got a ride home to the farm, never looked back.

Agreed to buy hay from this guy last year. Set a priceand picked the stuff up out of the field and took it home (12 rolls @ 26 bucks each) took him the money and he said he wanted 30 each. I put the rolls back where I got them and hadn't talked to him until yesterday. Won't deal with him again either.

Untill about 8 years ago there were two guys around home that were BTO grain farmers. About half the time when you seen one you seen the other. They ate dinner at the same store every day, rode around together goofing off all winter, went to farm auctions together, you name it. The thing was when you seen one by their self they were telling some bad story about the other. They acted like best friends but the two of them just lived to screw the other one over.

They are still around but don't goof off much any more, they both had to get jobs when they went broke.

a man called the salvage yard about a IH M front wheel. The yard told him $35. they pulled it off,, the guy showed up with $25. The yard man broke it in half, and said,, i will take your 25 now.

I couldn't look folks in the eye....... You folks have neighbors a quarter mile away, my neighbors are all within a quarter mile. Farmers are all on 2 streets side by side so everyone knows everything about everybody real quick. It took about a half hour for this story to get through the group and to the next town. Guess that ole dude won't be selling much hay in the future.

Remember the old saying, "Keep your enemies close at hand so that you know what they are doing."

Politics and some of the appointments make me wonder if that isn't the case with them.

I think the dynamics between these help lead to their going broke. They were both going after each other's land owners, every time one bought a truck the other would buy a better one. One bought an old cab over semi and a 32' dump trailer in 92 to haul grain with. In four years they both had 4 or 5 nice looking Peterbuilts, each with more crome than the one before it, all matched up with shinny hopper bottoms, then they had to hire some one to haul their lime cause it just ain't cool to haul grain in an old coal bucket.

went to buy a golf cart battery yesterday and was
quoted $119 for one or $94 each if i bought six.
thought i could get by with just one so decided to
price one at another place. as i was leaving he
offered me one for the $94. i refused and told him
that since he was willing to overcharge me initially
for the one that i would take my business elsewhere.

Looks like I am getting a new neighbor about a quarter mile down the hill, not jump'n for joy over it. I moved here like'n the fact that I could not see any one's house. Guess all good things have to come to an end. Been try'n to figure out how I can plant some pine or leland cypress in a line to block it out from the yard. Bad thing is it is too the west of me, if it was on the other side I would turn the whole back yard into a hog lot. Where he is move'n he'd never smell them. Yeah I have some antisocial issues.

had a similar situation was looking for a part first price was $116 plus tax and shipping witch made it almost $150 told the one person about it and he told his buddy later found it cheaper and told 1st guy I think I found one cheaper and he responded "if you do don't tell buddy I am going to charge him $150 any way. I didn't tell him what I got it for but told him it was $100 and he gave me $25 to keep my mouth shut about the extra. Both the guys are the same way taking advantage of people so the deal was 2nd guy had to buy parts on machine if broke and the machine actually belongs to my father so the extra $75 will go into servicing the machine this weekend because they used it and will not preform maint.
