new holland 469 haybine question

Hello I have a new holland 469 haybine with conditioner ,well i was making my second cutting and started to have trouble with it .

I was missing a lot of hay and would get clogged up at the cutter bar , would have to go in reverse to clear it thaen it would cut good and do the same thing again.

I noticed my belt on the cutter bar is worn and needs replaced ,it is out of adjustment , also I would have to go so slow to cut the hay it took me forever to finish my field.

Any one know how to correct this problem ?????????????

thanks
Greg

I agree with IAGary. But, first check your skid plates. Did you happen to lose one or have it come loose allowing the cutterbar to run to tight to the ground? Is there enough tension on the float springs?

thanks for all the replys ,I was going to change the knives on the cutter bar and the parts guy at dealer said i would have to drill out each knive because mine are rivited and replace with nuts and bolts or I could get a new cutterbar with new knives for $131.00 .

All the work involved i decided to get the new cutterbar for the price i thought it was worth it. and also ordered new belt because it is bad , now for the knife guards will have to check them out.
and will also check the skid plates and make sure they are ok.

thanks again for the help

had the same problem yesterday... just put in a new knife bar and guards. is there hay getting stuck on the ends of the guards? as was the case with me! was the field dry? as wasn"t the case with me! have discovered if the hay is wet and if the haybine is toooo low, the old dead wet hay on the bottom gets stuck in points of the guards. best thing i"ve figured out is to run a little higher and try to have it dry before mowing... also have heard about using snub nosed guards for this reason but haven"t gone to that as of yet

The field was a little damp ,the hay was getting stuck on the end of guards and stopping the cutting of the hay I would have to stop and clean out the hay on the knives,I tried cutting higher, slower,as it was thick what i was cutting. hopefully the new cutter bar ,belt ,will check out the guards to.
thanks Greg

How do you change the belt on the 469. Ours is the original belt, has to be easier than what it looks. Any suggestions.
Thanks
