Hay Is Dry!

Checked the hay last night at 6pm and she is firecracker dry.

So, if there is any kind of a dew down this morning, I'm gonna see how much of that 64 acre field I can get raked and baled before it dries out later in the day.

Ain't no haymakin happening here.

Raining every day and dew everynite.

Finally gotthe lawn mowed last evening but the tire were still wet on the mower.

Started 3rd cutting yesterday on about 25 A. alfalfa . Needed cut 2 weeks ago but would nt stop raining . The guessers are saying no rain till Wed. , we hav nt had a strech like that sence , well all summer !! Our dews still amount to about 1/4 inch every morning and when the humidity is up the yard grass will stay wet till 2 in the afternoon .

Let'er roll! Still hard for me to remember you have to bale with the dew on! Here in MN I can't hardly find a window in the day anymore that it's dry enough to bale. Dew comes on at 6 p.m. and it doesn't dry off enough to hope to get into the hayfield until 1 p.m the next afternoon.

You have it dry, we in MN (north anyway) have it wet. should have cut a couple weeks ago, alfalfa is in full bloom. Dont show dry for three days untill late next week. Best thing is its all sold for a fair price once I get it off, (in good condition).

go for it. Have a bit of rye straw to bale yet, been raining for last 4 days. Neighbor has 30 acres of oats swathed for about a month now. He chose do take his afterworks "nips" every night after work when it was dry and he could have been combining, every day he didnt have to work it rained. I checked hi oats out yesterday, they are growing great. I feel for the gent, but when yu put the liquer before what needs to get done ya get what earn.

Made my third cut Thursday afternoon. First 4 day forecast without rain for quite a spell. Dew this morning was HEAVY!
Hope to bale on Monday morning.

Dumb question? Why do they bale with dew on the hay? Here in NY, if we did that it would mold, or maybe if it were too green start a barn fire.j

Did nt last long ! 2:30 sat. afternoon and were having a real good soaker . Just got done spraying some multiflower rose , guess I ll get to do that again .

I think the hay gets bone dry real quick down there. Need a bit of moisture in it.

My "dry hay" wasn't as dry as I'd thought; green in the heavy spots. Gonna let 'er lay another day.
