Treating wood on trailer deck

I know this has been discussed before because I printed it off. Now when I need it I can't find it. I'm getting a used trailer with new untreated wood deck. What is the best product to use to protect the wood?
Thanks

Put [b:654c4848f0]Thompson's Water Seal[/b:654c4848f0] on used wood for our JD #16 Delivery trailer.

Trailer is kept under cover; but water does "bead up" when rain blows in under the tractor shed.

Used motor oil. If this is ecologically unsound, use raw linseed oil. Let it soak in, weather for a while, then coal with Thompson's Water Seal or something similar.

The problem with treating trailer floors is that usually the bottom is not treated. It's better to treat both sides before installation, which I have managed to do on occasion.

If motor oil is ok but the black color is a turnoff, find someone with a propane powered engine and get their used oil which will be clear. Used hydraulic oil should not be discolored.

A mixture of paraffin and pine rosin should be ideal, but I don't know where to get it.

I have a treated deck on my but I use Olympic Deck Stain and Sealer on it same as I do the house decks.

I just put new wood on my 18' flatbed. I took a hand sprayer and soaked it down with a gallon of Thompson's.

I ain't say'n paint it with used oil but if you spill a bunch on there on accident, take a old mop and try to clean it up the best you can. Might have to smear it all over the top of the wood. I have been told that a wood deck will last a long time if some oil gets spilled on it every few years.

I always used Pentox, when it was called that. Now, it's called touch up treatment for pressure treated lumber, or some such thing. It's still green, anyway.
When it was available, Creosote was always good.
Barring that, used motor oil after dark. Apply liberally. Don't want any spills now.

Paint it with burned motor oil, add a little diesel to open the pores if you like but probably the straight burned motor oil will last for years.

Teh motor oil works fine, but if concerned about that.
Sit the trialer in the hot sun. slop on bliled linseed oil. Once that soaks in do some more till no more will soak in. I treat all my wood handled tools that way.

Also for a painted porch floor. Soak in all the boiled linseed oil you can and then paint with good oil based floor paint. Lasts for many years.
