Wondering if anyone out here can share some grain elevators names, locations, contact info. Reason is I want to explore my options for the remainder of my anticipitated corn crop. Local here (GNP) is at $2.63 for new crop, I want to check out other sources, and decide if I am gonna contract it for fall or find some more storage and wait hold for higher price's. with this cool weather I think the yeilds may not be at what is being predicted for the nATION AND PRICES WILL CLIMB.

Not to burst your bubble Dave but we are looking at record yields here. It would appear that NE and weatern IA are the same. As for the price, you are a slave to poor basis levels there in MN and not much will change that.

We are $3.08 here for fall delivery with a -.20 basis. That's sure an improvement over last year when the basis was -.35 to -.45.

Well....Dave....around here the last two years we have had drought...'07 was bad...'08 bad, but not as bad.....

This year....we are gonna have a bumper crop...unless this storm dumps alot of hail (or near future storms) We have got more rain this summer than any summer in at least 5 years....lots of grain to combine this fall around southwestern ohio......

here in north west il appears to be a good crop of corn and beans; however about 10 miles west of me there is a lot of corn and beans damaged by wind and hail. this area goes into south west wi a long way.
i have been told hay auctions have already started up in sw wi as hay hasn't been made due to wet weather can't get up put up.
then sw wi got hammered by by heavy rain, wind, hail, and tornades lots of hay ruined for 2nd and 3rd crop.
we are about 2 weeks behind where should be for crop development. crop dryer will be running long time this year.

From one Dave to another, this is the site I use. Once you get their name you can google them to get a phone number. Often times my local buyers will have $.25 spread for a 20 mile haul. The thing to look at is ask local producers who they go to. If you enter 42409 in the zip code, there will be one place that is always a dime or better than every one else on corn. The trick is, they only take 50 loads a day and it has to be contracted. If you are two bushels over on your last truck on your contract you have to do paper work to fill out a new contract for that 2 bushels. Oh and 6 hour waits are common place there.
