Flood Irrigation

when i farmed in the southwest-- everything was flood irrigated-- we applied most of the fertilizer into the water-- fertilizer company supplied metering boxes-- were old battery cases with small dispensing tube-- so many oz per second equaled the amount applied in one hour- if i remember correctly-- any way it was the application all the neighbors used

Years ago, we (Dad did - I was just a toddler then & I'm 46 now) used to trickle anhydrous ammonia into the flood water at the well...

If you run it through siphon tubes, though, it will cake them up with a heavy white crust that you can't get out - essentially ruining them by making them so heavy...

I imagine it would do the same thing to irrigation pipe, if that is what you use...
