Case/IH 5140 goes to neutral

Neighbor has a 5140 that goes to neutral when shifting to reverse. Must shutdown and allow the tractor to cool down before tractor will move forward. The trans fluid is at the full mark. The trans is a powershift. any suggestions. Thanks

Had similar problem with later MX120. Dealer finally uploaded updated computer software. Problem was documented with CaseIH tech bulletin.

Sounds like he might have a bad pressure sensor. I had a 5230 and when a sensor was going bad I would have intermittent goofy problems. Usually the bad sensor is for the gear that works. Could also be sticking solenoid or bad computer controller. Pray its not the controller as CIH no longer stocks controllers. The only option is to send it to Canada to have it rebuilt, takes a couple weeks. Very simple computer in the early maxxums, there is no uploading new software.
