sold an item to a guy for 300 dollars he mailed me check ,but never came to pick up item it has been since february how long does he have to pick it up before i can sell it again getting tired of mowing around it he had an unlisted number and fogot his name he is 500miles from me

That sounds familiar. I sold a Case 5 bottom plow last fall on ebay. Buyer paid me (over $400) and said he would pick it up no later than Feb. Lost his number and haven't heard from him. It's now in the way, and don't know what to do with it. I don't feel right selling it or scrapping it.

All said and done is it a real big deal to mow around or move to a different place? Sometimes its kinda hard to be the bigger person, and a good person for that matter. If he did not pay you for it, that would be a different story. With the price of fuel, he may be trying to make the miles count with other items to haul.

It is unfair to you, without any doubt that he did not contact you. I lost my cell phone, and alot of information was lost, and I had no idea where to start.

Now that I'm a thinkin, seems I paid for a plow, but can't remember?????? Just a kiddin

If you called him anytime, would it be in your phone records? ID those numbers that you can, see if you recognize any names. I ID each number each month, for tax purposes, or maintain a log on the calendar as I make them.

you can start charging he storage.. but I would feel bad about that.. you could sell it and refund his money when ever.. you could use it...

If you deposited the check into your account, your bank probably has an image of that check on microfilm. You might ask the bank about that possibility. If you find out his name and address, I would suggest sending him a registered letter requesting that he come pick up the item, or at least contact you for other arrangements.

I would think that most states have a written law about how abandoned property is to be handled. You might do some investigation on the internet--I think I could find the procedure for my state in an hour or less. There are probably some hoops to jump through to regain ownership of the item you sold. I sure wouldn't feel right about reselling, or for that matter, giving away something that someone has bought and paid for. And doing so could lead to legal problems for you.

It is annoying to have to mow around something that no longer should be where it is. I tend to spray Roundup on such areas, and after that, I don't have to mow there again that year. I also would sure consider moving the item to an area where it was less in the way.

Who know what might have happened to the buyer? It could be that he became ill or had an accident and just cannot come pick up the item. Or maybe he forgot or lost your address and can't figure out how to contact you.

If you are anything like me, you will feel better if you do the right thing, whatever that is. Good luck!

The Bank may not tell you, privacy laws and all that political crap stuff. But there is no harm in trying, that is if the cheque was honoured.
