Ref . 4850 THAT WON'T SHIFT

I have a John Deere 4850 2Wd that I was using to shred with when all of a sudden the powershift just stopped shifting no forward or reverse. I checked all fluids , lever linkages , changed transmission filter, checked if Transmission Pump was pumping and it was. Next took off the Transmission Control Valve Housing and had it checked by a Jd Mechanic and that was also ok. All Hydralics work and also Pto. Tractor still won"t shift into any gear forward or reverse. Need advise. Thanks.

Did you happen to check the transmission disconnect lever above the filters? Does it sound like its shifting and just no go? Has it ever been opened up, wondering if the oil pipes that go through the right side of the flywheel housing finally broke.Just curious. chris

I purchased the tractor used and do not know if it has been split are not. Also I did check the tow lever and it is in the front where it should be according to Jd.

Fogot to mention that the tractor will not even try to move or make any noise. Jd told me that I probably broke a axle so they told me to hold the left and right brake at seperate times and which ever side tried to pull was the side the axle was broke on. Did that don't work.

at the back of the engine there is a torsional damper.it is basically a clutch but it doesnt releaselike a regular clutch.it may have given up.the tractor will have to be split to fix it.all the hydraulics will still work as they are flywheel driven

May be broken trans output shaft, maybe diff., broken shift collar on the trans disconnect ,there many places that can give trouble

Well I finally found out what was causing my tractor not to shift. Pulled of the traction valve control housing and looked inside the tractor where the torsional damper is and noticed that a bolt had unscrewed of the damper and broke both of my oil pipes on the flywheel. Does anyone know if you can but this pipes back without having to split the tractor. Thanks.
