Can you drive a tractor on public roads in California?

I was asked last night if a person can drive a tractor on public roads in Califronia. I have no idea, since I do not live there. I know each state has different laws.
Can someone answer that for me.

I used to drive Skip loaders and Backhoes all over here in Los Angeles Co. They need a registration and Lic. plate. On an ag tractor , I think an SMV triangle is sufficient.something about an "Implement of Husbandry " .....

I lived there for 50 years never had to worry about it but you never know what those Idiots in Sacramento will come up with.
