Found myself playin' musical tractors today trying to find a dry field.

Sure glad I put those duals on the 966; that worked out really well.

However, guess I'll go to cutting hay tomarrow 'cause it's still too darned wet to run that cultivator.

Darned weeds are getting ahead of me tho! :>(

You might want to run a little test. Leave 5 acres of that field alone, no cultivating. Spray it and drill the wheat in just as it is. Around here real firm seed bed is preferred. Most of the ww goes right into the bean stubble, no til.
You're gonna need that moisture in a month.
BTW when do they plant ww out there?

I about buried a John Deere 4430 with a 16' field cultivator in the far edge of a field (where else, right?) where there was a hidden wet spot in the field after it had rained and I was throwing dirt up over the fenders of the tractor. Luckily I had new back tires so I had enough traction to slide my way out of the mudhole and back onto safer land. Decided to hold off on working up the field for another couple of days.

In Manitoba we can't insure winter wheat fully unless it is seeded into standing stubble (preferably 12 inch canola stubble). Not only do we need the moisture, we need the snow insulation as well. Best seeding dates here are Aug. 25 to Sept 15. It is often a bit of a trick to get a canola field harvested and reseeded before Sept 15.
