Phoenix has installed photo radar speed cameras
about every 2 miles on all the interstates and loops in metro area. just got my 2nd ticket in the mail for 66 in a 55 zone. On the 4 lane freeways it goes from 65 to 55 for a short distance thats where they get you. City has mailed ouy thousands of tickets. People are getting fed up with these speed traps.
 
Not that simple. DOT set up sensors on I-80 to let you check your speed. When traffic is heavy, the sensors get overloaded and sent out crazy readings. It would flash "49" then "75" then"54" then any number, seemingly at random. DOT removed those units to a less traveled section of I-#%, where, if one car as near another, especially in the other lane, it would read as if the first car, then the second (slow) OR it would clock the more distant car, then the closest (fast). Finally took the unit down and it sat in a storage yard.You notice those speeding tickets don't count against your driving record? That's because they are BOGUS!
 
Just heard about that on the radio. The fella I was listening to said it's purely for money and nothing else. The manufacturer of the cameras makes money and so does Phoenix. He also claimed that red light cameras cause many more accidents than they prevent because of rearendenders caused by drivers stopping fast because they know the cameras are there. Jim
 
cities are DESPERATE for money...mainly because ILLEGAL aliens are draining our social programs and milking us for MORE than we are worth. Phoenix......Are you kidding, they are probably monetarily decimated. Pay them to give hector a root canal, you must be a heartless American. WAKE THE F UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!! WE ARE BEING FLEECED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
They are nothing but a money making scheme. Since times are tough, it is just another excuse for the police to cite the 'need' for them.

Also, be very, very, concerned that the police are NOT above giving out speeding tickets even tho they know that you ARE NOT speeding. It's just your word against theirs, and we all know that they are NOT above perjuring themselves.
That 'attaboy' on their record, is far more important than the truth, after all, all their cop buddies will stick up for them. As a mere civilian, YOU are the enemy.
 
The City of Heath Ohio has put some up & people are raising heXX about them. Some folks with several tickets.I'm surprised they don't have 22 holes in them yet !! Yes, A new way to get money. Little towns or big ones never seem to make do with what they have like regular folks, always need more & more. And waste as they go.
 
They have a camera set up at an intersection here in Sioux Falls, SD. No turn on red allowed but it makes them thousands of dollars a year. One fellow is taking them to court over it. They send you a picture of your vehicle and plate number and a bill.
 
in a small city west of portland, they use a van with the photo radar in it. that way they just move it to the location they want to hit. in oregon, there is a law that it has to be posted when photo radar is in use. these guys just set a folding sign just past the van. they got you then they tell you. they also like to use it in school zones, and work zones, where the fine is double.

they got them all over the se texas area. everywhere i go i see the darn things. also gotta buckle up in the darn seat/shoulder harnesses so the cops won't write another. too many laws and too much infringement on personal freedom. can't fight it, though, unless ya got lots of money to waste on lawyers and courts. i hear of a fellow that got pulled over and arrested for DWI on a riding LAWNMOWER while making a beer run. now ain't that a hoot? cops can't catch criminals so they are after the easy targets.......us!
 
If you think about the scenario of drunks riding lawn mowers, they use riding lawn mowers after their licenses were taken away. If you or I have some kind of accident on a mower our homeowners insurance will take care of it, but I imagine not to many drunks have homeowners insurance.
 
A new cop in a nearby town gave a very high profile well respected local guy a ticket for some moving violation. It went to court. the new cop swore he was right, citizen maintained innocence. The judge said that he had to back the cop. The local paper played it up big. The whole police dept was months getting over their black eye.
 
I got one going through Ohio and later I noticed a blue Durango parked on the side of the road and cops driving around it like flies, and I remembered one back where I got a ticket. This cop told me I was going kinda fast going around a truck, but he wasn't around so I guess whosever in the Durangos just passes the message on. Use to be a cop had to actually see you do something.
I also think your process to fight the ticket should be made as easy as it is to pay it.
I asked them if they needed more donations because I could send them a little more.
 
Around here, they have to show you the radar reading. It even has a printout. And everything is videotaped.
 
You almost need a quick way to change your license plate to other numbers and letters to fool the camera.
 
they set up radar displays here with flashing lites that, since nobody here really knows how to properly set up the dumb thing flash weather your speeding or not, they dont have the money to set up the cameras on them yet, one thing i noticed it that these things only have 2 didgets, local kid told me that if you pass the machine at a speed over 100 mph, it really messes it up as it cannot record the speed that fast, i dont know myself none of my trucks will go that fast
 
I heard that 2 cameras were spray painted black, in Montgomery county, MD, this week, now they don't work!
 
Lawyer told a buddy of mine that got a red light ticket while driving through AZ to simply ignore it and not pay it.. The companies that put up the equiepment are not law enforcement and have no legal power to enforce anything. They split the money with the city and thats it...
 
This is illegal. They don't send YOU the ticket, they send the owner of the vehicle the ticket.

It violates the Constitution but I'm sure the nnalert in charge doesn't use that anyway.
