I still haven't switched over yet

My wife and i still haven't saved enough money for a box yet for Digital TV. LOL!!! Refuse to take other peoples hard earned money so no coupon for us.
Haven't had TV since the switch. Thought we would give it a try, no tv for a few months. Really is kind of nice. We spend alot more time outside with the animals and such. She likes animals alot better than humans i have come to find out.
Thinking about getting a box hooked up.
Just wondering how that Digital TV is working out for everybody???
My dad is visiting our farm in Illinois right now,and he hooked up a box.
He can't believe the clarity and how many channels now. We are about an hours west of Chicago and and hour south of Rockford.
Down here in Ga. where my wife and i are at i think we should be able to get half a dozen or so channels

Take care

I have a box, but don't really use it. I have the locals on DISH, but will probably drop them when the digital gets the bugs worked out. I live in the Omaha metro area and there are some local channels that I can't get on my digital box.

My dad is in the TV buisness and he said everything will probably migrate to the internet before too long and make digital obsolete.

I also didn't get a converter and used the opportunity to break myself of the tv habit. I find am losing some weight!

If you're thinking of or in need of a new tv. A new digital tv will accomplish the same thing.

If there's some coupon you can get to help you out, by all means get it.

We can disagree with people that expect handouts, but if it's legal you shouldn't cut yourself off.

Think of it as a tax refund for all those years you paid.

We have Dish also with local channels but found there's six more stations that are local that Dish DOESN'T transmit. Tried to argue with Dish about paying for locals and not getting them all, but their attitude is cancel if you don't like it.

That's a thought redtom, thanks. I'll bet by christmas , that is if we are allowed to have a Christmas, by then, i bet that the leds and flats panels will be quite cheap by then.!!!
Hey now i'm excited again. Yea wait till Christmas and open a present, the 54incher, and watch TV inbetween all the commercials.

We find we don't miss a thing. I get all news off the internet . I was getting disgusted with the Weather Channel nothing but a commercial. I can get the weather off the internet in say 1 second.

Take care

Take the coupon.......... rather you take a few bucks that you are paying into anyway than the external_linksites soaking us daily.........
Then you can choose to turn off the TV.

This digital conversion sucks! With a stiff breeze we lose ten or fifteen seconds on a blue screen with the "no signal" at the bottom. We can get all the public t.v. stations in Iowa but only one national station (ABC) now. Before the change we got five national stations ( ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and one other I can't remember right now). We live thirty miles from any of the broadcast towers. Can't afford to get the high dollar antenna they NOW say I need. I had good reception with the rabbit ears but not now. It's SUCH a good thing! Grrrhh!!! ...Randy

Verizon refuses to run fiber optic up our road with 10 families on it unless we pony up $12,000 to do it. They say 'that's only $1,200 per household'. Yeah right and we're going to pay the monthly fees also. Just like TV cable, they wouldn't run TV cable up the road so everyone put in a dish. Then TV cable wanted to put cable up the road. Everyone said OK but nobody had any intention to hook up to it and still don't, the dish is cheaper.
I've always worked second shift and have little interest in the trash on TV anyways. I just have to throw away 50 bucks a month to dish network to keep wife happy. Otherwise the dish would land in the scrap hopper.

I've gotten along without a TV for over ten years
now . Tried it a few years ago when I found a pair
of rabbit ears in the garage Almost as much comm
in a half hour as there is news. I wouldn't watch
any of that other stuff.
If you think you can't get along without it,
take the coupon. If you don't, there only gonna
buy condoms for 6th graders.

RIGHT ON!! TV is EVIL! It is just Left-Wing Propaganda & The "News" ain't really news, it is SHEEPLE PROGRAMMING!! TV is Highly Addictive & is basically the reason why we have a socialist gummint! Has anyone read the "4 Arguments For The Elimination Of Television? A Gr8 Book!! A little d8ed now, but TV has gotten WORSE than it was in the day the book was written! Check it out on Amazon.com or some other online bookstore. I buy USED copies really cheap 2 give 2 friends who are addicted 2 the BOOB TUBE!! I haven't watched broadcast TV since my antennae fell down over 14 years ago & haven't missed it. Well the only thing I watched @ th@ time was The Simpsons, because I KNOW the "News" ain't really News, it is just Propaganda! Get ur News from Online Editions Of Foreign Papers & LEARN WH@ IS REALLY GOING ON!! Remember, TV is run by ADVERTISERS & PROPAGANDISTS!! I have much more time than when I watched several hours of TV every day! I have missed many HOURS of ANNOYING TV commercials th@ Interrupt programming @ the Worst Time! & Avoided many hours of Violent/nasty/dirty/etcetc acts!! TV 4 me is just a MONITOR 4 da VCR/DVD Player!! If u can, try not watching it 4 awhile..see wh@ happens!! CC, who has kicked the glass t*t habit!!

Digital TV isnt working well for us.Our favorite station is only 50
miles away.It came in great on the antenna but we continually lose
the digital signal.Looks like we will have to get an antenna
booster.

We're not better off either. Actually more stations, as several broadcasters broadcast more than one program on their signal. But most of it is duplicate, paid programming, dial a prayer, or other stuff I don't want to waste time on. Digital from even the strongest stations leaves quite a bit to be desired, breaking up, and dropping out. Often, We loose service for half an hour or more in the mornings - nothing... NO SIGNAL! Some stations are permantly not available, that we used to get. I have already done good antennsa, boosters, etc. Next improvement in antenna systems will be very costly. No cable out here, and I refuse to pay for a satellite dish. I assembled one out of parts years ago for the old satellite band, worked OK, but then they got nasty about encoding everything.... Anyone want to buy a 12foot dish?

Although I don't watch TV because I got fed up with it years ago I sometimes have company that does. I got the box and after the change over couldn't get a signal. Went and bought a uhf/digital antenna with an amplifier.(40 bucks) I'm 50+ miles from any station and it works great. Before I got 2 stations I didn't watch now I get eleven I don't watch.

Well we have cable cause the towers for it are just up the road and it comes right by --we switched down to a low level plan years ago (approx.$10/mo and only 13 stations roughly) more then enough.
We do have a tv in house that is not on cable and the digital box only gives it 1 station that fades in and out --same at a cabin we use at a lake: this changeover to digital is crap; I almost never watch tv anyway but the wife does

Good for you farmer101IL!
My answer to the digital change over was to toss my tv. I never watched it anyway. Like I turned it on only 2 or 3 times in the last year so why have it?
People who watch a lot TV are intellectually lazy and are less curious, more emotionally excitable and less rational than people who don't.
And if they watch a lot of sports, well...
But don't get me started on how those stupid sports have gutted the minds of Americans!

Got the boxes and no signal. Oh darn. Not buying a new antenna, which might not work anyway, nor cable or dish. A lot of money to receive really poor programming, propaganda, and mindless commercials. Only time I can think of where the gov helped me and it turned out good. joe in ny

down where you are you should get plenty of channels in these hills my neighbor gets about 26. Some are duplicate but Fox comes in and that is what we watch even with Dish network

I think this was thought up by the Cable Companys to get the TV stations to go Ditigal concidering that they range the stations from 60 M to 700 or 800 meg. the upper channels would be line of sight like Celliar Phones . Here in WV with the hills even in the 400's you have trouble getting over 20 miles with anything less thwn 100 watts . Any thing above channel 20 would be impossible to get at a distance of 20 miles unless you were on top of a hill and had a direct line of sight to antenna. another reason is MONEY the GOVT. sells those FREQ. This has been coming on for a few years .

I signed up to get the coupons a couple of months after they came up with this all ne digital thing ang never got them. I emailed the people and still didn't get them so I got pi**ed off and never got it which is good for me because I am outside getting more stuff done like making hay when ever we have a good 1-2 dry days which almost never happened then we have a week or 2 with out rain and got almost all of it baled up but nowhere else to put it and it isn't even for me it's for my sisters with their worhless horses. but I also got many other things done and even lost some weight but gained it back in muscle from doin 400 some square bales in a week or 2 with an old NH 68 Baler with no thrower.
