...do you supose they're gonna be offering a Cash for Clunker tractors deal? Have you guys seen any of the YouTube videos of them ruining perfectly good used cars for this rotten deal? Makes you absolutely sick to see this waste. This is just pathetic. 8^(

Just remember where that money is coming from for those car. You pay taxes for them to be able to throw that money away like that. So who does it hurt or help in the long run.

Local newspaper article told of a customer buying an Audi through the cash-for-clunkers program. How many UAW workers does Audi have?

For that matter, how many UAW workers do Honda, Toyota, and Hyundai have?

Look that one up on the Internet...then go buy a clue.

just like the high scrap prices. just a way to entice Bubba to clean up his yard so him and his neighbors can pay more property taxes.... The car thing is just a way for some more folks to be in the poorhouse and believe in miracles about next election time.

YES WE CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never said the UAW were the ONLY ones bennefiting from this program, but it's still a small group of people taking money from the taxpayer. That's what Obammy does to secure future votes, and if you haven't figured that out, maybe you ought to spend some money on a clue.

Cash for Clunkers is a "feel good" program that will have no long-lasting impact. Other than to give a $4500 subsidy to anyone who probably would have bought a car anyway.

As Old said, it's giving away YOUR AND MY money to people who don't need it. Heck, I heard a story of a wealthy couple trading in their '95 Jag under the program.

Once the money runs out, car sales will drop back to a 10 mil/year rate.

Plus they're going to destroy a lot of good used cars. Many were good cars that could be bought by young kids who can't afford a car payment.

And it will have ZERO impact on the environment.

What's going to happen, and is happening, is people with no credit will turn in a $200 junker, finance an new car, and skip making the payments. Then, when it's repo'd in six months they'll figure they had the enjoyment of driving a new car for six months and go out and buy another $200 junker.

And it will have ZERO impact on the environment

Actually it will probably have a negative impact on the enviroment. True an older car will burn more fuel, but think of all the resources that went into building a new car. Even if it burns less fuel it still consumed a huge amount of resources to be manufactured. Similar to buying a new car to get better fuel mileage - usually you're money ahead keeping your old car.

like me, i just turned 18 and never have had the money to buy a car at all, i would give everything i have for a car of my own, even if it was old or didnt hardly run, and this stuff makes me mad because i, bein 18 here in ms anyway cant find a job like yall couldnt find a needle in a haystack. and that means i have basically no income and most people think their doin good to get rid of a prefectly good car or truck for a brand spankin new one they dont even need. if i ever get the chace of owning a car im gonna keep it until the state wont put an inspection sticker on it
