Ford 5000 diesel injector pump

My fuel injection pump is pumping fuel to 3 cylinders, but not the #2 cylinder. How hard are these pumps to take apart and clean for an average mechanic?

Is it a CAV pump? I assume you have swapped an injector from another cylinder to the number 2 cylinder to make sure it is not an injector problem. If so, and problem is in the pump, better take it to professional pump shop. Tom

Like Tom siad. if you are sure its the pump take it to a shop. Tolerances inside a pump are WAY too close for the average mechanic to try to keep things clean enough to work again after you put it back together. An object as thin as an eyelash will stop a pump from working!

I'm assuming it has the Simms/Minimec pump on it as the CAV pumps either generally all pump or none pump...
The Simms pump is fairly simple. The problem is probably a stuck plunger or broken plunger spring.
I've never had need to take one apart, but I can tell you that if you do, proper setup (spill timing) will likely be your biggest problem on reassembly. Some things are just better off done on a test stand.
They're also a bit expensive to repair, but done right it should last a long time.

Thank you all for the ideas on the diesel injector pump. I was able to free the clog from the #2 port by applying suction pressure with a hand pump and back pressure with an air compressor. Removed the clog at least temporarily.

Thank you, God bless you all.
