cloning a car remote control

Up until a couple weeks ago wife and I were driving same make & model cars. I have two remote door lock controls left over from her car. Same part numbers as mine. How can I clone her remotes to work with my car? 2000 Chevy Blazer. Or is this something I have to take to a dealer, "cause only they know the secret?

You could have let the remotes go with her car. Now the new owner will have to pay out $160 for GM, $260 for VW to get a spare remote.

Install locks and then follow these directions after you try them to see if they work without programming.

Programming instructions are the same for the 98-02 Blazer, Jimmy, Bravada models:

Transmitter Programming:

1)With the driver door closed, hold down the power unlock button on the door panel.

2)Turn the ignition switch to the ON position

3)Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position

4)Turn the ignition switch to the ON position

5)Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position

6)Release the power unlock button on the door panel.
The remote control door lock reciever will respond in the following manner in order to indicate that the receiver is in the programming mode:

6.1)Locking the doors

6.2)Unlocking the doors

IMPORTANT:
All extra transmitters must be programmed at this time. When a new transmitter is programmed it will deactivate the old transmitters.

7)Hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter until the remote control door lock reciever will respond in the following manner:

7.1)Locking the doors

7.2)Unlocking the doors

8)Repeat step 7 for each additional transmitter

9) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.

How much sales tax did the State reap on that clunker trade in deal. I figured the State got half of my clunker refund in the form of sales tax. No complaints though because it is less money out of my pocket. I figure there may be some fights over inventory as stocks are reduced. The dealership was a zoo but a funny zoo if all you have to do is watch human behaviour.

Vern, wife TOTALED her car, along with a Chevy Imapla. No $4500 freebie here..... Don't get me started on cash for clunkers! My opinion isn't very kind to the Washington bunch. Let's just say I'll be paying my share for someone else's rebate.
