Old tractor movies.

I have some old tractor movies from the 1930's that are on VHS tapes.

I was wandering if any of you know if there is a projector that can be hooked up to a VCR that will project the movie onto a large screen rather than on a television?

thank you,
John

Many of the InFocus, Dell and other projectors can do this. You can probably find one at the nearest Best Buy or other electronics store. Just make sure the projector has composite or s-video inputs to receive the signal from the vcr.

Prices new run from $400 and up for a decent projector. You may be able to find one used. These are the same thing you hook to a laptop to project presentations.

I have some really great 8mm color films of harvests back in the 50s...working the ground and other stuff. Had it put on DVDs..looks nice.

But I'd like to be able to take snap shots of certain things. I down loaded some 'snap' software. and it seems to work ok, pause the dvd, take the snap shot...file. But the when I open the files the picture is completely black.

Anyone ever tried to do this?

I've done it using a variety of video editing software, but most of those cost $$.

While I've not used this one, I've heard it does a good job of screen captures, not only single captures but running screenshots - and it's free.

You guys with old footage should think seriously about getting it transferred to DVD. VHS tape will not hold up long term and many older VHS tapes are bad already today. The Nebraska Tractor Test museum is looking for video footage like this for their media library. I'm sure they would love a copy to keep for posterity.
