anybody have a cure for a computer virus/trojan that identifies itself as "Home antivirus 2010"? thanks Bill M.
 
You will be asked to buy software to "fix" this problem. Don't do it. The same people making your virus are the ones selling the "cure".
Google this virus for a fix. There is some free software out there to remove it. I'm guessing AVG will do it.
 
AVG can make an underpowered computer slow. In the case of this virus, I would download the free AVG, use it to get rid of the virus and then delete AVG from the system. Somewhat timeconsuming, but free.
 
There are several versions of this particular program--whatever you do, DO NOT buy it--it's just a scam to take your money and does nothing to help your computer--quite the opposite, as this class of scam typically installs other malicious software on your machine as well. Malwarebytes may be able to take care of it--AGV will probably NOT help, or at least it was not able to either prevent nor successfully remove Antivirus 2008 and 2009 infections on computers I have fixed for others, whereas Malwarebytes was able to remove both infections. It will need to be an up-to-date version as this particular critter changes rapidly to evade detection and resist removal. You may even have to get professional help--these are quite nasty little buggers.

It wouldn't hurt to get spybot search and destroy and superantispyware and run them as well. all these programs are free and work good at removing spyware. you may need to get ccleaner and run it as well. most if not all can be found at 100-downloads.com which is a good source of free programs and malware free. let us know if this works
