Ford 4000 gasalin engine overhaul cost

I have just purchase a Ford 4000, 1962 modal. I am about to start looking for a shop to have the engine completly overhauled. i need a guidline as to a fair cost for this service. I am in the Dallas area and would appreciate any information thanks.

I did a Ford 841 myself. I had to bore, head & crank refurbished, new pistons rings & bearings. I assembled it. Cost was $1500.

9N with rings & head for about $750.

I am in Houston area.

Definitions of a complete overhaul vary. From a set of rings and spinning the valves with a suction cup with some powder.
To removing the block & head, boiling clean in the hot tank then rodding out the passages. Magnafluxing the head,block & crank for cracks. Grinding, re-sizing & balancing the crank & rods. Re-grinding the cam/followers. New/bronze lining the guides, new valves, new seats. New distributer bushing & new drive gear. New water pump & new oil pump.New clutch, new pilot & new throwout bearings. Fresh paint on the engine. Carburetor boiled and built with new shafts, bushings and soft parts.
Or is a complete overhaul something in between?

Add new pistons/rings, bearing and gaskets. Boring the cylinders over size and honing on a mill instead of free hand. Align boring the block's main bearings. Cutting the block & head surfaces flat/square. New rod bolts, new main and head studs/bolts.

Get an honest shop and pay what it comes to as determined by what condition it is in. There is nothing safer than an honest shop as it beats a contract or estimate every time.
