went to trade my 82 dodge 150 for a new dodge 1500 just to find out that the goverment combinded the 100 and 150 into the class one catagory the new 1500 is catagory two so no rebate both trucks have a gvw of 6200 lbs can"t figure that one out any ideas guys?

I can get $3500 for my clunker in trade for a new jitney. The government would then get about $1500 in sales taxes and about $300 in license fees to say nothing of all the value added taxes along the way. I guess I'll just keep my clunker which I use about 4 tanks of gas / year and try to reduce my "Carbon foot print" and energy usage.

Jimmy Carters creation of The Department of Energy comes to mind. WASHINGTON IDIOTS!

An 82's too old for the program anyway isn't it? Thing I can't figure, the other night on the local news they were showing some of them that they were destroying. Now,I don't deal in used cars, but some of the trucks and SUVs that they were crushing looked to me like they had a lot more than a $4500 value. Why would you take $4500 in taxpayer money if the trade in is worth $7500 any other day of the week? Are people so stupid that they can't see that they're giving away their trade in.

Last night son traded a beat up 97 Ford 1/2 for a run-around Dodge Caliber. He has a Dodge 1 ton for a work truck. He recived the Dodge $3500 dicount and the $4500 Cluker allowance, the Caliber makes a good runaround vehical. Dealer said he had sold 25 that day and 45 last Saturday.Does not have anymore with AC.
