Man oh man ,Ne iowa got it bad. Around Clermont ,West Union , Wadena . I was driving though the storm fri night when it hit . Golf ball hail ,high winds , flash flooding . Saw the aftermath on the trip back home today . There are fields that look like someone ran a chopper over it . Some didn't even have a stubble left . Pretty big band .
 
Yeah, ain't that something. I saw it and was thinking at least they got their alfafa made. But then it dawned on me, the hail just totally destroyed it. Every field I saw for miles looked like it had just been cut and baled, bare to the ground.
 
We left for a show in Minnesota Friday and couldn't believe what we seen when we got to West Union. Took a tour today to see if our crops were spared. luckily we were missed again by about 2 miles. 4 weeks ago there was a strip 3 miles wide and about 20 long. 3 weeks ago another strip. 2 weeks we had winds up tpo 160 mph and total hailed out crops come within 2 miles. There won't be many combines running in Fayette county this year. I don't think there is enough crop in our county to feed thhe livestock. Banker always said that the hail had the first mortgage. I can see now how right he was.
 
I was in FarmHouse fraternity at MU in the 70's. Our housemother was from West Union. She was also a housemother for Dan Quales Frat after that.
