O/T Tire size

How much difference is a 235 85r 16 as compaired to a 255 70r 16? Can I run the 255 70r 16 on the front of my pickup, with a 235 85r 16 on the other side. Rear tires are both 235 85r 16. Stan

The 255 is the smaller tire. It is about an inch shorter in radius. That will shift your center of balance just a bit toward this tire. It will run 5.3% slower than the other tires. The 255 will turn an additional 35 revolutions per mile than the other 3 tires. If it were me I would try to match the fronts at least. However as long as the front wheels are not driven wheels (as in 4wd) it shouldn't hurt anything temporarily. It would run out a lot like the donut spares on cars now days.
