Had the same thought. Hate to ask but what is a W-4. I know when I was a motor Sargent. All my tires had military or military only on them.

Look around on the machine for any data plates. If it was military equipment, there should be markings other than factory on it. Possible someone just acquired some tires from a Navy Yard?

"W4" He's talking about probably is an IHC W4 equal to a Farmall H in size.Military back in the day used a lot of Tractors like them for Tug duty etc.Back in the early 50's at El Toro USMC Air Base in Ca. they used W9's to tow them old Corsairs and F Model Jets around.I know,I ran one for awhile.Captain came around asking "who of us came off a farm" and found out about me so I got the duty. Never ran or much less saw a W9 before but I adapted.

Thanks John I am still getting use to tractors. Stanby gensets, diesel engines and RV gensets I can handle. I know the Navy did paint all there tugs and carts yellow. But it should have a Navy property number on it with the anchor stamp.

They used some of those tractors for towing airplanes. They used Case tractors with dual wheels for towing artillery gun carriages to & from the firing ranges for test firing. This was back in the early 1950's during the Korean War.

Hers'a picture of a Fairway 12 that was bought by the military. It was red when they got it, but they found yellow under the red and repainted it yellow. Hal

Weren't all the Military Nomenclature supposed to be removed on things when they went to the surplus market? Seems I heard that so many years ago.Hard to remember things that are from 60 years or so ago.

No can do, tractor is 3 hours > away. sheet metal looked good , been sitting 20> years most likely locked up . tires may have been loaded by the look of the area around the stems.
