I worked today!

Not sure if I got all caught up, or just time to earn some $$ for a change. I called a guy I worked for when I was out of work last time and started helping work on grain bins again. Today we put up a cross auger on a bin roof for a Shivvers unit and have one more to put up tomorrow. Not full time employment, but I can work as long as I want to till another real job comes up. Be nice to get some bills caught up. Chris

It's good to hear that you're working again.

Just hang in there; all of us have either been there, are there, or going there.

Good for you!

Good for you! Like James said we've all either been there, are there, or will be there.

I've been laid off 3 times in the last 10 yrs. I'm still not making as much money as I was when I got laid off the first time, but its enough to pay the bills and then some.

Sometimes these part-time jobs blossom into some good things!

Glad to hear it .. I'm still looking ... might have to wait till FALL to find some Farmer that needs help ... I'm hoping and looking ... Time well tell ....

Glad to hear it!

I've been there, and any kind of work is better than unemployment. I do admit though, for the little while we burned through our savings I sure did get lots of stuff done on the farm last fall when I was terminated with no reason or warning.

At my current job I've been laid off 2x for a week each just because it's slow, but things are picking up now. Hope to go back to full pay soon, been on 20% pay cut since late January, just got up to 10% last week.

Still beats an unemployment check and sitting around all day.

Keep you tools polished up and your skills sharp. Anyone with the tools and the skills will never go hungry.

Our company has been using rotating layoffs for the last 18 months. I work three weeks and then I am off for the next week. I can not help my daughter with her college bills very much, but I make enough to get by. I actually look forward to the week off to get work done around the house. They fired 4 people and laid off 6 more for 90 days in addition to the rotating layoffs to get about a 35% work force reduction.
Good Luck, and remember that your attitude is a valueable tool also.
Steve

Congrats. The new unemployment numbers came out yesterday for our area. OFICIALLY 19.4% here in the county. Unoficially? Who knows. 30 maybe. Been so many people out of work for so long welfare is all they have now.

We are at 28.6 unemployment in the Flint area as of today according to the Flint Journal. W4
