I was in TSC yesterday and they had a big pile of scratch and dent truck tool boxes, I saw a few that I liked, Some had big dents and some I couldn't find anything wrong with.

I think that I'm going to go back and offer them less money on a tool box and see what they say.

What would be the lowest reasonable to ask, on a box that is say marked down. I was thinking offer half what they are asking and see what they say
 
Thats as good of a place as any to start. Good luck if they will bargain! Most store clerks here look at you crazy and run off to find a manager who says 10%....
 
Uncle Ernie is correct. If you want to make an offer, you will need to speak to the manager.

In the TS store where we shop, we spotted a water pump that ran off the pto that was out of the box and looked like it had been returned. We asked the manager about it and he said a customer had returned it saying it didn't work. We asked what he would take for it and bought it for half price. Manager even said we could bring it back if it didn't work. Took it home and it works fine.

Give it a try. Just remember to support the box with boards between the bottom of the box and the bed of your pick up. If you don't, it will break at the corners where it hangs on the side of the pick up bed.
 
I have bought a bunch of stuff there at less than full price. Even got a couple of free hats!! I bought a 4 ft roller, it was missing the hitch, for $20. Demo model 1 ton cart, a little rust, $100 off.
 
Start low - you can always come up.

I always hate it when I make what I think is a "too low" offer, and they say "OK" without even hesitating. . .

Yea I would rather offer to low of a price, that to high, the worst that they can say is no. I'll offer about half or about 100 off and well see what they say.

And I do know to ask a manager not the cashier.
