Tire problems today

I started out today with my pickup towing my tractor to do a mowing job I just left the yard and felt a thump thump on one of my tires, sure enough one of my front tires was comming apart. got turned around headed home to change the tire. Got to my job and had a flat on one of my front tractor tires just as I was finishing. Not a record for bad tires, but a pain in the, you know what. Loading my tractor on my trailer with the flat front tire, the tradtor was a little unstable, and the rear tire got on top of my trailer fender and proceded to bend it almost against the trailer tire. Had better days. Tell me what troubles you had today, make me feel better.Stan

Tractor wont build oil pressure in reasonable time. Took it to dealer for repairs, first had to take trailer wheel off and take it to town to get flat fixed.

i did manage to save my neighbor about 400 dollars today. i was mowing ditches this morning, saw his 4020 parked missing one back wheel. stopped in to chat, he was gonna drive to peoria to buy a used rim for the back. tractor kept getting flats. tire guy said rim is pinching tube. had a couple rust pock marks on it. sooo....i am taking the rim to the shop to sandblast it, then por-15 the inside and a quicky paint job. rim is fine, no rust thru's, no chloride in the tires either.

You made headway....
It poured like hell here all day. The hay needed to be washed again...
I spent most of the day resting the muscle in my back that got pulled this morning.

My adventure for today was a "Motility Study." That"s where they run a tube up the nose and down the throat to check out the goozle mechanism. The tube hurt just as much coming out as going in. I certainly got one clear nostril out of the deal though. TDF

Today, I LOST a tire. Yes, LOST. While hauling a whole bunch of parts and pulling a wagon, I stupidly put the newly-repaired hayrake tire on the tailgate.

Apparently, it fell off (rim and hub, too) and rolled down into oblivion, which is a half-mile of swampy treeline.

I'm PRETTY SURE i'll find it in the winter when all the stuff is dead. It's bright red. HA!

Troubles today are office troubles and would take a 5 pages to explain.

But Monday, had my key ring with the shop keys, the key ring with the keys to the Chevy and the Dodge trucks and a single key to the house in my hand. I closed and locked the door to the shop and headed for the house. Took about two steps and felt the single key to the house "slip" out of my hand. I stopped immediately and started to look for it, but it had disappeared into the grass.

Set the truck keys with the bright orange key fob on the ground where the key slipped out, got down on my hands and knees and started to search. You"d think it wouldn"t be that hard to find since I knew where I had dropped it, but after several minutes digging around in the grass, I still couldn"t find the house key.

Opened the shop back up, got the leaf rake and began raking the grass hoping to find the key. Finally heard a "clink". Even then it took some digging around in that patch of grass to find that silly key and the grass wasn"t that tall. We had mowed on Sunday.

I run the best tire for trailers (Michelin LTX load range E) and still have blowouts. A couple weeks ago I was pulling a 15k tractor in 110 degree heat and this lady was holding her car next to my trailer on the interstate.
I was just thinking that a tire could go any minute and then all of a sudden a big "BOOM". She nearly took out the guard rail on her side. At least she caught back up to my truck and said "Mister, you had a explosion under your trailer". I told her I would check on it. :)

I spent a large portion of the day with an insurance auditor who is crawling over my workers comp policy looking for ways to charge me more.

I'd trade you in a heartbeat. I'd even fix the trailer fender.

Whew...I thought I had a bad day...but after reading everyone else's troubles I guess I had a good day and just lost sight of it.

changed oil on the tractor this morning, took filter off too, found out i got no spare(thought i had one)put old filter back on,leaked to beat h!ll,took it back off, found gasket kaput.Go to town to get other one + filter(80 klick round trip)Store was out,no other one in town.Come back home, search the shop again, find new filter and gasket right where it should be.
I was out of grease too, forgot to pick up that as well.GGGRRRRR.3 hrs down the drain.
Went to fire up the tractor.dead batt, forgot to turn off the key.

is that a sign of getting old?

(quoted from post at 03:06:51 07/23/09) Michelin LTX is a truck tire not a trailer rated tire.
Yeah, but they hold up better than anything we have tried for the money. I reckon I could get a 10 or 12 ply tire?

Never had a tube up the nose. Did you know the doctor can see the prostate through the front side. Yes folks that's the wennie. with a camera at the end of a tube. Stan

I had uncle that said when he got old "If you want to buy two things, you have to make two trips to town"
I am getting there.

Finally got the wd45 carb adjusted so it would not black smoke all the time, on final test run, fan blade broke off and went through new(er) radiator... augh.... good news, fan blade that broke off hit the ground, not something or someone else

Had a round and a half of baleing hay (big bales)to go when stop and got of tractor to call wife to come and get me. Looked back at tractor and back tire was flat. What scares me more then the flat tire is, if a 15.5-38 goes flat and you can't tell it, your equilibrium ain't worth a ????. All I found was a pinched tube, no other reason for it to go flat.

I was awfully frustrated with the dog. I just scolded her. but she chewed the wires off flush on 5 soleniods $14 each. I was able to scratch off the rubber bakealite down to the wire stub and delicately solder on new wires, been two nites doin' that, while the real jobs wait to be done. bjr

Find a shop that sells the really hot sauce pour some of it on the wires. She will not chew anymore. Of course she will be hanging out at the water bowl for a few days. I had some that will make you cry just opening the bottle
