NH hayliner baler knotting only on one side?? Also Deutz fahr hd490 baler was knotting and working properly, suddenly stopped knotting??

Compare the parts in both sides. One side can get out of time.Make sure the bill hook bearings are not worn out,the bronze bearings get flat spots in them. The billhook must open enough to loosen the knot just be fore the knot is stripped off.You need a manual for the baler. The manual has information on knotter problems. It helps to have a helper turn the flywheel by hand while you watch the knotters tie.New billhooks have sealed roller bearings.

Did both balers start having problems at the same time? If so get some brand new baler twine and try it. I had a similar indecent one time, baler mechanic checked knotters....all OK. Turned out the string had not been stored in the driest of places and was actually breaking during knotting.
Good luck,
Andy

twine tension usually is the cause on my baler , due to differences in twine ,, Hope you have a book ,Sure CLEARS up alot of frustration and wrong guesses ,,, My 268NH book has a couple drawing pages that sure is helpful,,.And I am not well Versed in downloading such info ,, if anyOne ELSE OUT there Can ,, Please do , because my copy is getting Field -Raggled .. Good luck

We need to know how the knot looks is it tied on one side or the other is it broken string or another thing. If you look in your manual it will show the different problems and the fix. Now my NH 268 is giving me a problem it will tie perfect on one side but on the other it will not cut the swine off of the bill hook every so often. Driving me crazy. Broke the feed pickup belt the other day I think it was the original belt from the looks. I should get the new one today, well its to hot to bale anyway supposed to cool off over the weekend.
Make sure that your knife is sharp and the bill hook tension is enough to hold the twine when its cut off. Unlike some balers the hook hold it till its cut off. On my IH 46 the loop slips off the bill hook as the knot is tied,
Walt
PS do like those big tight bales the NH makes though.
