WD 45 Steering

Putting the steering worm gear back in its place. Never removed the race clear deep inside and now putting it back together. The first bearing I put in and got it within 3/8" inch maybe less and thought let the bolts pull it on in. Anyway got the end cap on and tight. Went to drive it and it was 10 times harder to stear than before. Pulled it out and rollers fell out of bearing. So Got new bearing and putting it back in and same problem. Got so close and no cigar. I shove it in the hole and then screw the worm gear into the other gear untill the tires start to turn. Then I quit. As Im writting this I just thought where this dont have power steering I guess the wheels could turn all the way or I could start with them at a different angle I guess. Was just picking brains here Ive never done this before so wondering what I screwed up I guess. Got the right bearing ... sure look the same. #'s crossed over. Old one was Bower 5578 or 15578 and the new one is 15578.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Well I went back out and wiggled and giggled and I think I got it in. Got where I could get the bottom in and top less than 1/8 maybe even tight. I never took the race out from inside so it has to be in the right place. There is a gap behind it, but I never took it out, so it hasnt been moved. Quit for the nite will put the motor support and thing where the front axle pivots back on and hope for the best I guess.

Thanks
ltr
