My 4020 has a popping/grinding noise that sounds like it coming from behind the battery on the right side. It only does it if I am a hill will the left side down the hill or if I turn really hard to the right. Took of the right axle and had a dealer look at it, replaced the bearings. Same noise. Could it be the parking pawl spring, or the bearings on the left side?
thanks ahead of time

I took the hub and wheel off myself. It was in no way loose. I was wondering if it may be a outer bearing on the left side on the axle.
Thanks for your reply

Amazing how this forum works, I have the same trouble with a 64 4020 powershift and was going to write in.
By chance, does yours have the 3ph, but not totally working correctly. I suspected maybe if the load arm is off the cam follower. Maybe it's banging around in the case on hills. Just a theory.
Be sure to update us if you figure it out.

When I start out, it kinda sounds like a racheting action below you feet, under the platform. I have a John Deere mechanic coming over to drive it. Over the phone he thought it may be the parking pawl spring.
