filter confusion.

I ordered a transmission filter for my loader.
when i picked it up ,they gave me a hastings brand box,the filter in it was a baldwin.

both #'s on the box and filter cross referred correct.

Makes one wonder?

Simple. Not every filter manufacturer makes EVERY filter. It's COMMON for one company to repackage another's filter like that.

That's not the point,i know that!

Its like buying a set of goodyear tires, and getting some other brand with same size instead.

How many other things do we buy everyday that the contents are not made by the name on the box?

When you go to the Ford or Chevy or Deere or Fiat dealer and buy a part how many of them are made by the company who's name is on the box?

At least nowadays.

Seems like someone pulled the old "switcheroo". I'll bet the baldwin filter costs less than the hastings, and someone pocketed the difference. Happens when someone returns a product for refund.
