I wanted to know if anyone knew if I could run e85 ethonal gas in my Farmall? Would it run to hot? or damage the carb gaskets? I was just thinking about trying it in the old gasser, or should I just keep running 89 octane with 10% ethonal? Thanks for any info. JinNY

not and make it work effectively, you most likely do not have a high enough static compression ratio, or a large enough jet. Just my opinion, no facts for backup. Dave

I agree with Dave, If you had a 9 or 10 to one compression ratio, and adjust to deliver enough fuel, it will be OK, but not more fuel efficient. the HP/Gallon/Hr will go down in any case. Will it run as is probably with a bit more advance and more fuel. Will you be happy, not too likely, unless you get the fuel at 1/2 price. JimN

I ran E85 in my Farmall M for a whole summer two years ago. It ran just fine. Opened up the idle and main screws some and I did advance the timing a few degrees. Started just a bit harder in that it needed some choke where usually don't. I didn't see where it hurt anything but fuel economy.

Last year ran it in my JD620, same bit but didn't need to richen the fuel at all.

There is nothing in the carburetor that can or will be damaged by using E-85. I'm sure you will need to turn the high idle/load adjustment screw out to allow more fuel into the system. I've never tried the E-85, but I think the tractor would run O.K. But performance/horsepower might suffer a bit.
