Looks good Alan!! Just got done with our 36 acres. Sure has been a hard time here also. We have had rain on and off all summer so far. last week we had I believe 6in. of rain in one day. You get the hay dry and have to re rake it cause of ground moisture. good luck to ya!!!

Lookin Good Allan!

Over here in Pa we don't work our fields up and down hill like that.

See you're workin North ans South, Aint afraid of wash outs are ya?~~ LOL I think I can see Canada on the horizon.

Allan, what hay mix is that, or is it all alfalfa? You seem to get decent hay crops for being in such a dry area. Whats the secret?

We had an in. of rain the other night I turned what I had to bale over but it was still to wet to bale by 5:00 so I guess it will wait till tomorrow.
Boy this is becoming the longest hay year i ever had.

The sun was just going down, so the color is kinda wacky in the picuture.

This field is a mix of bluegrass and alfalfa. That darned bluegrass sure made the diesel smoke roll. :>)

Old Roy,

Could you imagine having fields like that and how easy your life would be?

I am working these little triangle and non-descript 2-10 acre plots of land that never work out just right.

I recently got on a 10 acre roadside plot that was straight and square. Wonderful experience.

Well yeah,

But, these runs are 3/4 of a mile long. Ya sure don't wanna run out of fuel at the other end. :>)

Hey Allan:
Got a good question for you.!! How do you turn the tractor and baler at the end of the field? Looks to me like you would fall off the end of the planet. What A field.!!!!Bet you could end world hunger with the ground your farming.
Real nice pictures and Advice on doing things.
Raining here so I"m off to the steel yard for step material .Yep WE have the loader bucket and all the cylinders(new) but got to put the floor down first.Havn"t got a bldg yet to work on it, so it has to be done after the rain quits. Got the tractor tarped ,and I will tell you ,it"s hard to read a tape under the tarp. Thanks again.

Is that the second cutting from the field that had all the hail damage? That's pretty neat how you can cut it, and then leave it to dry until it's time to rake without touching it again. Here in central Missouri, we darn near wear our alfalfa out moving it around to get it to dry. It takes a hot, dry, summer drought in order for us to be able to do that. What kind of alfalfa yields could you get there if you had irrigation?

Old Roy,
That was pretty observant that you could tell the windrows were laying North to South. I missed Allans post about the picture being taken at sunset, so I went back and tried to figure out how you could tell the directions. The only thing I saw were the shadows from the windrows that could be used for a sense of direction. Very observant!

Couple hundred acres.

Think I'm gonna go over and help my neighbor a little too, as he is having some problems with his equipment this year.
