The widow of a guy I worked with is selling of his 'stuff', meaning tractors, equipment and tools. Ray's son was telling me some of the tractor prices his mother got from a local farmer on 2 tractors. Both are gassers and in fair to average condition. I don't have an idea what year they are one is an IH 656 that runs ok the other an IH 504 with a loader the bearings in the front end are shot and it needs a hydraulic steering motor.
She was told the 656 should sell for $7,500 and the 504 for $6,500.
That sounds awful steep to me especially for gas tractors. I can't find any of my HotLine equipment books to see at least what the average auction prices were on these for the last year I got them.Any information is appreciated.

bit high for gassers . ezpeshelly IHC , LOL... In all honesty , diesels are worth More ,, The fair price is whatever You are willing to pay and whatever She is willing to seel for ,, So it Varies with everyones situation and likes and dislikes ..........

If she gets it let me know I have one of each and would sell them in a heart beat for that money! About 1500.00 to 2000.00 too high for running tractors.

That's the trouble with appraisels, those farmers don't know the market and are just quoting what some retail dealer might be asking. The dealer wouldn't give half that for them. You can buy nice 656 gassers for 5000 or less.A 504 in that condition would probably bring in the 3000 range,a nice one probably 5000 or so.

I agree with the other guys.

In "perfect" shape they would be worth about $5K apiece since they are gassers.

Thank's for the responses. These style tractors really haven't made it yet in the "collector's market", and are more impractical in this day and age for serious farming (what little is left in this area) than diesel. I have no personal interest in these. I'll advise her that she should consider knocking about $1,500 of the initial asking price, and be prepared to come down upto another grand if she has a cash in hand offer.

You guys live in the wealthy part of the USA.
Here in Western,Pa., $3500 each would be a major accomplishment. I just sold a decent 656 for $3000. It was a gasoline tractor with 3500 hrs on it. A 504 is an old machine in my books.

In my part of the country you better knock off at least 2000 to 3000 and still may have a hard time getting that.

I bought a 504 diesel with loader for $2,500 a few years back- don't look for much, but works fine. Doubt they are gaining in value as time goes on.
