2 N Lift problems

Folks, I have a problem; I am no farmer and certainly not an expert on tractors. This question will confirm this. My 47 2N won't pick up my box blade. Always has and now either won't or struggles depending on how I have the top link adjusted. Nothing I do will allow it to pick up. Take the top link off and it'll lift up all the way immediately. Had an old top link that was beat up so I bought a new one. Same problem. Can't figure it out. I adjust it all the way in or all the way out, same problem. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
PS Neighbor thinks it has something to do with the draft control up under the seat. Can't tell.

kevin try posting on the 928 n board, this may be a simple fix or a not so simple fix, either way you can fix it, but there are several over on the n board that know n hydraulic systems inside and out and can better help you than i can

Yep I think he is right, the draft control mechanism is causing you some problem there.

First thing to try is, on the control quadrant, there is a square base where it mounts to the transmission/rear end housing. There will be four nuts holding that down. Loosen them up and see if you can slide the whole quadrant forward a little bit, probably have to tap it a bit with a hammer.

That small adjustment will affect how far into the hydraulic pump the control valve piston sits. I am thinking your draft control linkage is pulling on the contol valve a little bit, causing it to be in the 'open' position that would ordinarily allow the lift to drop. If you move that quadrant forward just a little it may correct it.

If that fails then you probably have to open it up and see whats going on in there. Post back and let us know your results. Good Luck!
