Belly mower blades

I need to replace my belly mower blades. I am having a hard time getting the bolts off. They are on there TIGHT. Is there a "trick" of some sort to get them started?

I agree with Sid. Especially if the blades move toward the left (viewed from the driver's seat) as they move under the front of the mower, it should have left-handed threads.

Which way do they turn? If they turn looking down from the top right they are right handed threads and if they turn left they will be left hand threads. Always oil threads when replacing. I use inpact so just dont have and problam.

probably left-hand threads, use an impact wrench. Use anti-seize compound on the threads every time and it's much easier.

Yep, that pretty much covers it. Been there, done that. Figure out the threads, block of wood and a breaker bar, and then block of wood, breaker bar, healthy cheater pipe, and still plenty of umph. You are exactly right, is no cheating because even a cheater pipe/bar requires...ummmmmmmmmph. Works though. Grin.

I block the blades with a short 2X4, then use a 3 ft cheater pipe on the closed end wrench. Reverse threads. I use anti sieze lube on the threads when I put them back.
